On May 25, the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) organized a seminar on "The role of renewable energy sources in the concept of smart cities and smart villages" within the second phase of the EU4Energy program.
The seminar brought together experts from Europe and Azerbaijan to discuss the role of "green energy" sources in the design of modern settlements, as well as the types of additional services in this regard. The workshop, which serves as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience, also provided an opportunity for participants to review the processes and innovations related to the development of energy communities in Europe, focusing on EU requirements, key challenges and solutions.
It was stated at the event that smart cities and villages allow to overcome the problems faced by settlements by providing a more technologically advanced and sustainable infrastructure. It was noted that such modern settlements create conditions for the use of smart technologies for efficient and effective management of resources.
The second phase of the EU4Energy program, Promoting the Transition to Clean Energy in the Eastern Partnership Countries, will run until December 2024, and aims to contribute to the development of energy legislation and regulations, support the liberalization of energy markets and the transition to clean energy in the region. The EU4Energy initiative is funded by the European Union and implemented jointly by CEER, the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS).
