Kamran Huseynov, Deputy director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), was chairman and keynote speaker at "Green hydrogen and net zero emission" session of the 28th Baku Energy Forum held as part of the Baku Energy Week.

In the presentation dedicated to "The Role of Green Hydrogen in the Development of the Renewable Energy Sector of Azerbaijan". Kamran Huseynov described local programs and initiatives, the activities of the hydrogen working group, cooperation with international companies and projects proposals in the area of hydrogen development.

According to Kamran Huseynov, taking into account the huge renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan, there is possible integration of green hydrogen with offshore wind and other renewable energy projects.

At the event, the "Low-carbon hydrogen economy market research" report prepared by the "Advisian" consulting company with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was presented. As the results of market study, it was identified commercial viability of green hydrogen production, potential export routers to the regional energy markets and application areas for the domestic consumption. The report provides information on the next steps, the areas where green hydrogen could be consumed in the domestic market, normalized cost of hydrogen energy (LCOH) and etc.

In the panel discussions, representatives of the SOCAR, Masdar, ACWA Power, Ansaldo Green Tech and the EBRD delivered the speeches.
