The third meeting of the Commission established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 1673 dated 5 December 2019 on additional measures for the implementation of projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources was held in the updated version.

Making the opening speech, the Chairman of the Commission, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the work done in the field of using renewable energy sources for the implementation of the tasks set by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the forthcoming tasks, and noted the importance of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary on the development and transmission of green energy in terms of realizing the rich renewable energy potential of our country.

Director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry Javid Abdullayev made a presentation on the work done and results obtained since the second meeting of the Commission. Information was provided on the progress of research carried out in order to identify the fields of renewable energy sources, including the water areas in the Caspian Sea and for the connection to the electrical network, and other procedures.

Then, a presentation on the legal regulation of the implementation of projects in the field of use of renewable energy sources was heard. Detailed information on green hydrogen, proposals from international investors in this direction, the progress of analysis on the use of offshore wind energy were brought to the attention.

Also, discussions were held on a number of issues arising from the activities of the commission and relevant decisions were made.

Representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Justice, Ecology and Natural Resources, Emergency Situations, Defence, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, the Central Bank, AREA, ANAMA, Azerenergy OJSC and Azerishig OJSC attended the meeting.
