On December 21, the first meeting of the Working Group on "Expansion of geothermal energy utilization opportunities" established by the relevant order of the Ministry of Energy was held in videoconference format.

Kamran Huseynov, chaired the meeting and Deputy director of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), informed on the international experience of using geothermal energy usage and the potential of this energy in our country.

Rena Humbatova, Head of Hydrogen and green technologies department of AREA described the action plan related to the implementation of geothermal energy in the state programs. The members of the Working Group provided the speeches and interventions followed by discussions.

Representatives of the Ministries of Energy and Economy, National Geological Exploration Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Ministry of Science and Education, Department of Geophysics and Geology of the State Oil Company, "Azerishiq" OJSC, Baku Higher Oil School, State Oil and Industry University took part in the meeting.
